What you need to know about the cryptocurrency market
The US market for office equipment has grown rapidly, but the market for desktop computers and laptops has not, as the number of bitcoin mining rigs has soared.
On Monday, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the total US office equipment market grew 6.2% to $24.5 billion, an increase of $1.6 billion from the same period last year.
That represents a growth rate of more than 10x the US total for the first quarter of 2017.
In terms of the desktop market, desktop PC sales have more than doubled to $12.5 trillion in 2017, the report said.
The growth rate for the desktop PC market was driven largely by the rise in the price of PCs, which has driven the growth of the market.
The report noted that sales of laptops grew 7.6% to nearly $2 trillion, while the mobile market grew 4.4% to a market value of $2.7 trillion.
The total US desktop PC inventory increased by just over 2%, to about 28 million units.
The desktop PC industry has been plagued by slow sales, which have caused prices to surge.
The US Office Depot said last month that it expects sales of desktop PCs to reach $20 billion by 2021, a rate that is expected to accelerate as the demand for desktop PCs increases.
According to a January report by Macquarie Group, the PC market is expected by analysts to expand to $100 billion by 2020.
