Singapore: All Office Equipment Singapore
Singapore: The government is set to introduce a law this week requiring companies with more than 1,000 employees to report on the amount of office equipment they have on hand.
Singaporeans are not the only ones worried about the new requirement.
The Singapore Association of Government Employees (SAGE) has written to the government asking it to ensure that “all office-related items are stored in secure locations and are in a condition that the contents are not tampered with or abused”.
The association also urged the government to “exercise caution and take appropriate measures to ensure the safety of the public”.
The government said it is studying the association’s suggestions and will announce a “final decision” on the issue in a week.
The association’s director-general of policy and communication, Karel Tan, said: “The current requirement is not only about safeguarding the environment, it is also about protecting public health.
It will help Singapore keep pace with its growing population.
We are concerned that it could lead to an increase in the number of office workers and reduce the safety conditions for employees.”
