Truck company to shut down 1,400 of its 1,200 office equipment shops
The trucking company that is the primary supplier of office equipment for President Donald Trump’s administration is cutting all of its 800 office equipment plants.
The decision was made Wednesday, the company said in a statement, but did not elaborate on the rationale.
The company announced the decision at a news conference.
The Associated Press first reported the decision on Thursday.
The announcement comes amid concerns over the Trump administration’s plans to roll back rules governing the supply chain of equipment that the president has used for his businesses.
The White House has also said it is considering an executive order that would require companies to certify the integrity of their products.
“It’s just unfortunate that the supply chains have become so critical that this is the way to go,” Trump said in April.
“We have to make sure that we have the correct equipment on the shelves.”
The Trump administration has also put a number of restrictions on the supply of equipment for the president, including barring his staffers from purchasing items from outside vendors that have previously had their certification revoked.
Trump’s first executive order to cut off equipment suppliers to the White House was put in place in February.
The order gave the government the power to impose temporary restrictions on goods imported from abroad that would allow the government to take steps to protect the public health.
The new order would affect more than 1,000 offices and offices-associated businesses, according to a tally by The Associated Business.
Trump, who is also in the midst of a two-week trip to the Middle East, has often said that he relies on suppliers for his equipment.
The president also has sought to reduce the cost of office furniture by using it to decorate his private homes.
But some industry experts have said that the use of such equipment to decorates the president’s home is unlikely to cause any long-term damage to the company that supplies it.
